Kind of a cool, little seen, horror flick here. I wasn't expecting it to go where it did and while I don't consider it a loss classic or anything I did enjoy watching it.

I knew this would be bad going into it but I like Diora Baird. I do give them props for the many, many shout outs to horror movies, even beyond the most obvious. However, it's not funny at all and the plot sucks.

07.25.10 :: Exam

I love movies like this, where they take a group of people, put them in a confined space and slowly build tension. Exam delivered for me for me for the most part. I'm a little conflicted on the ending but overall it's a great little flick.

A nice, tense thriller based on the Edgar Allen Poe story. It has some nice twists to it and builds the story well. Overall pretty enjoyable with few weak moments for me.

07.25.10 :: Ip Man 2

I haven't seen Ip Man, but it's my understanding it's all practical kung-fu but this one is full of wire work. Still, Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung are pretty spectacular. I enjoyed the movie, but it borders on goofy at times. That being said, a lot of kung-fu movies can do that. It's a fun watch, but considering the hype behind Ip Man, I felt a little let down by this sequel. Now to see what the big deal is with the original.

I was really into this movie all the way to the end when it lost me with a completely soft and bonerless ending. Worth the watch, nonetheless, if for a great performance from Brian Cox.

07.25.10 :: The Tournament

A satisfying and fun shooter that has a few pacing issues at times, but overall is quite a blast. Special props to Ian Somerhalder who is off the chain as his role as a psycho assassin and Kelly Hu is easy on the eyes.

07.25.10 :: The Ruins

I love The Ruins. It's a terrific book that translated well to the screen. Shot beautifully, totally gross and creepy and the performances are solid. It's one of the best horror films of 2008 and still one of the best of the decade.

07.25.10 :: Salvage

Interesting idea that builds up to a payoff less interesting than a bad handy. At least it's only 70 minutes or so, so it didn't feel like too much of a waste of time.
