| 01.09.10 | Alamo Ritz | The Alamo brought back the cast and crew of The Monster Squad for a special screening at the Ritz. Me and Jen lucked into extra tickets from our film friends, which was awesome because we had a great time at the show. I've seen Monster Squad a few times but seeing it in 35mm on the big screen with a Squad loving crowd is a total blast. We had applause during all the big lines: "I'm in the squad aren't I?" "Wolfman's got nards!" The Q&A was great. Heavily pressed towards questions to Fred Dekker and Shane Black, who had a lot to say about various aspects of the movie (the armadillos, the scary German guy being a Holocaust survivor) and that they'd only consider doing a part 2 if it could be where the Squad was a bunch of drunks and washed up. Jon Gries was there and while he didn't have a ton to say it's great to see him supporting this film, considering he has a huge cult library of stuff under his belt. Andre Glover and Ryan Lambert didn't have a ton to say but it was great seeing them there. Who would of thought that Lambert, a chain smoking, peeping tom, badass 8th grader would of turned into such a preppy guy? I had a blast at the show and look forward to more special screenings this year. |
